The more things change, the more they stay the same.

From a week ago, nothing.

To now, where I see such potential.

Yet, I'm still so scared.

Guess I won't find out.

Someone hit the "reset" button! :-)

Tuesday, October 09, 2007

These are the nights that are the hardest. After such an attack, I just want to be held, and there's no one to do that.

I wonder how long a person can go withoutbeing shown any sort of affection at all?

This is freakin' stupid

That I am sitting up in the middle of the night, unable to fall asleep, all over the anxiety of having to ride in a car with Chris (crazy coworker, not crazy ex-husband) in the morning. I'm sure it will be fine, but trying to convince myself of that so that I can get some sleep is another matter....

And, how can a tooth that I don't even have anymore, HURT?

Horoscope

Today's horoscope struck me as interesting.... It's a little late...

Pisces
February 18 - March 19
Is the religion or spiritual path you follow one that truly speaks to your heart, dear Pisces? It can be easy to simply follow suit with the traditions of your family or culture. Yet, the faith you choose needs to be one that you can identify with. Even if this means breaking the mold, it may be something you'll be glad for in the long run. Research what's out there. This is a good day to start.

Isn't it ironic?

Is the prophesy true after all?

Dammit!

Bridges

So I'm sitting here watching 9news, and they're covering the bridge collapse in Minnesota. On the news they say that they have a list of the 10 worst bridges in Denver on their website. I've saved you the hassle of tracking down the list and posting it here. Once you have read through it, please post a comment and tell me if you can see what I find disturbing about this list:

Top 10 worst bridges in metro area according to CDOT:

1. SH 88 (Federal Boulevard) over Lakewood Gulch south of Colfax Avenue in Denver- This bridge is part of the Regional Transportation District's west corridor and will be designed and constructed as part of FasTracks. Estimated cost: $8-10 million

2. US 6 over the Burlington Canal near I-76 in Adams County - This bridge is now under design, but funding has not been identified. Estimated cost: $600,000

3. I-25 over US 85 (Santa Fe Drive) - This project is under design, but funding is not available. Estimated cost: $55 million

4. State Highway 58 over the railroad near Golden - This project in the early stages of construction. Cost: $8.5 million

Blah.

That's pretty much how I am feeling. I am so sick of being hot, I can't stand it. I need a hug. But don't get too close to give me one, I might sweat on you. I wish I lived in Alaska:

Scared.

I know you all want my first post in months to be something profound, but it's not. Deal with it.

I haven't had a meaningful relationship since I got divorced. Come to think of it, I wasn't having a meaningful relationship before I got divorced, but that's neither here nor there. I usually put Chris down to those of you who read this blog, because I'm afraid that if I admit out loud to any of you how much I loved him at one time, I'm going to hear, "I don't see how," or "Yeah, but he was such a jerk," and my favorite, "You're better off without him." All of these things are true, but it's also a truth that I DID love him at one time. And it's another truth that I sometimes feel guilty admitting to any of you that I did. It sucks that I feel like I have to defend to you the fact that I once loved my husband very much.

And I hate to admit that three years later, it still hurts to think about him sometimes. Not always, but sometimes. But it's no longer that I lost him. It's that I was rejected by someone I loved so much.

And I'm surprised that I allow it to affect my life so much now. I've had a couple chances, but have always been too afraid to pursue them. Not only that, but they've really been few and far between. You know, someone cute here, nice there, but I've always been afraid to chance it. Why? I'm afraid that I'll just get hurt again, and I don't want to put myself through that. I know that sounds like a cop-out, and it might be, but does someone out there have a rational explanation as to why I haven't been able to find someone since my divorce? I'm not ugly, and I have a decent personality, so what is it? Is it the fact that I have kids, or the fact that I live with my parents? Do I need to defend the fact that I live with my parents not only because they need the help, but so I can better myself?

I feel better now that I got that off my chest. If you're still with me after that babble, thanks.

Suprise!!

For those of you who think I have abandoned my blog, just thought I'd post a short one to let you know that I haven't. Once work is done, I'll have more time to blog, and once school's out, I will have even more time to write.

But for now, amuse yourself by keeping track of my geocaches:

Hello 2007!

I had a rather uneventful New Year's Day, and I'm glad for that. You know I'm not one who likes a whole lot of excitement in my life. Went to lunch with my family, then shopping for a new calendar, then shopping for a new shower curtain rod because mine f*$&@^g broke last night, dang it.

Went to see Rocky Balboa last night, and I have to say that I was rather pleased with it. It was a much better resolution than Rocky V was. I was really happy with the ending, because it was then that you knew that Rocky had come full circle.

Reflections on 2006

I thought a lot about this post, and what I wanted to say here before I sat down to write it.

There were some changes in 2006 for me, but not a lot. I finally said goodbye to the last thing that still tied me to Chris, and that was the van. For the first time in my life, I financed a car completely by myself, and that was very liberating.

I said goodbye to my childhood home, and moved on to a bigger and better home, which I love very much. I discovered a new spirituality that suits me very well. I reconnected with old friends, made new friends, and lost friends. I gave up my passion for dancing, but found a new passion in stonework. I lost a family member, and I'm sure that something good came out of that, but I can't imagine what.

In 2006, I laughed and cried. I loved and hated. I felt joy and sadness. 2006 has taught me to work to acheive balance in my life.

I did it!

I made it through Christmas without crying!

Ghosts of Christmas Past

These are my blog posts from the last two Christmases. So far, I'm doing much better. This year's post to follow....

Sunday, December 25th, 2005
6:55 pm Five more hours and I would have made it.

I would have been OK if they hadn't left me alone

3:06 pm Still better than last year
At least I haven't cried on Christmas Day.

So far.....

Sunday, December 26th, 2004
1:02 pm A lot can happen in a year. Take me, for instance. If, Last Christmas, you told me that in a year I would be divorced and living with my parents, I never would have believed it. Who knew that I would spend this Christmas hiding tears that threatened escape? But here I am. I pray that no one ever has to feel this way at Christmastime again. I pray that *I* never have to feel this way at Christmastime again.

It feels a little better to just get that out.

Some mornings, it's harder to wake up alone than others. This was one of the hard ones.

You are The Moon

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Moon is a card of magic and mystery - when prominent you know that nothing is as it seems, particularly when it concerns relationships. All logic is thrown out the window.

The Moon is all about visions and illusions, madness, genius and poetry. This is a card that has to do with sleep, and so with both dreams and nightmares. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. But it should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition. You may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial; if you have any past mental problems, you must be vigilant in taking your medication but avoid drugs or alcohol, as abuse of either will cause them irreparable damage. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.

Turkey Day!!

Did everyone eat too much? I did!! Happily, too.

How's the writing coming??

Sunday, November 12, 2006

Maybe we're not supposed to be happy. Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories. Admiring the struggle it takes simply to be human. Maybe we're thankful for the familiar things we know. And maybe we're thankful for the things we'll never know. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate. (Stolen from Grey's Anatomy.)
